March for Science

April 22nd has historically been known as Earth Day. This year the scientific community has chosen this day to hold the March for Science, a non-partisan rally and march event to demonstrate the importance of science funding and to show the world the impact science has on our every day lives. The main March for Science event is being held in Washington, D.C.

The March for Science has received an amazing surge of support from scientists all over the world. To date, 480 satellite marches have been planned from across the globe, all scheduled to take place on April 22, 2017. The following is a representation of satellite marches planned for April 22nd.

A satellite march is also planned for Shreveport, LA! On April 22, 2017 from 9 AM to 11:30, all members of the community are welcomed to join our local scientists in support of this monumental event. The march will begin with a rally at the Caddo Parich Clerk of Court at 9: 00 AM, with speeches being given at 9:30AM. Beginning at 10:00 AM, the march will follow a set course (below) and finish once again at the Caddo Parish Clerk of Court.

The Society for Neuroscience has officially endorsed the March for Science event and encourages its members to demonstrate their support.
But even before that, our chapter had voted to help support the local March for Science Shreveport event through sponsorship and helping to facilitate fundraising efforts.

What's next? WE MARCH!
APRIL 22nd, 9:00 AM in front of the Caddo Parish Clerk of Court on Texas St.
